Moving Information & Resources

Whether you’re moving to or from a property, you will need to be concerned about utilities.
First, have the utility bills — gas, electric, water, etc. — been paid in full at closing (or will they be paid)?
Second, have utilities been turned off? This can be a problem, for example, if there is no heat in cold weather.
Third, do you have the phone numbers and other contact information for utilities? Your real estate broker should be able to supply this information.
Sites that may be helpful for transferring utilities may include MakeThe Move.com and Utility
Connection.
