What forms do I need to obtain a VA loan?

You first need form DD214. This form was issued upon discharge from the military. If on active duty, contact your housing officer to obtain a copy.
Then contact your local VA office. Ask for form VA 26-1880, a “Request for Certificate of Eligibility.” Once this form is filed, you will receive a “Certificate of Eligibility” that can be presented to a lender as proof that you are VA qualified.
It is recommended that you obtain your certificate before you look for a home — having the paperwork in hand will greatly speed-up the loan application process and reduce anxiety.
